Help Stopping default email from syncing backwards to email server?

I'm using the default email client that comes on the Nexus to read my non gmail email account.
Normally my phone email clients have a setting "leave messages on server".
The android one IS doing that, except if I delete it from the phone, then it also is deleting the message from my server.

I don't want it to do that, but I can't find a setting for preventing that?

Can it be done without installing another app?

No worries. I hadn't noticed that the nexus will also sync when I delete emails from the PC, so I don't need to delete any from the phone that I want to review on PC later, but not hang around on my phone after I have dealt with it on PC...

I think that's basically the difference between a POP or IMAP email account. With a POP account, each device will receive the email and you have to delete it from each inbox on each device. IMAP (like Gmail) syncs the email client to the server. So any changes you make in your email client will be reflected in your other devices' email clients and the server/ webmail side.

I hate dealing with POP accounts.

Cheers. Yes pop is what I am used to, and was what I had on the N900. Now I get it all is well.
