Storage issue

Took the plunge and ditched an iPhone 5s and Apple after 5 years and have to say it's the best move I've made.
Ok have a 16gb phone with a 64gb sd card and have added 5gb of music to my sd card however I've noticed that the phone storage has dropped and is displaying 5gb used in other ? Why have I lost a third of the phone storage and what is 'other'?

Looks as though you've loaded the music on the internal SD storage card. Did you load via usb connected to your computer? If so, look for the external SD card when hooked up again. Its a goofy thing but it is what it is. When you find it you can rename it to differentiate it from the internal card for easy recognition in the future.

I did all this via my computer so I know the music is on the sd card its also showing up that I've used 5gb on the sd card but also 5gb is used on the phone ??

Out of the box you'll see some amount in "other" that accounts for the space that the Google and HTC software takes up. Add some more music and see if the amount used on the internal phone storage changes again - I bet it won't.
