I notice there are lot of threads here complaining about the internal storage of the desire. What is puzzling me though, is mine has seemed to be disappearing. Before apps to SD came in on version 2.2 I had significantly more apps on my phone. I have moved loads of apps to the SD card since and have deleted several off the phone memory and only have 10mb left! There is literally jsut a handful of apps on the phones internal memory.

So my question is - how much is the internal storage of the phone (desire) and where do I get a full list of what is taking/using the space. Something is eating it somewhere and I need to work it out. (i.e. do a full analysis)

Is the same space used for running programmes (like the RAM) and the storage of internal programmes?

ok - so I've found that the ROM is 512 Mb - used for OS and program storage - is there any app that gives me a full breakdown of how this is being utilised??
 
well - i noticed the email and internet data (in manage applications) was coming to 7Mb - wasn't sure why. cleared both. I setup my email account again and added my bookmarks back - 3Mb total

Any other tips like this for saving/clearing space?
 
Iir the Desire has about 147mb of storage for apps.


If you go into Applications then manage applications click menu then sort by size you will see the biggest culprits.

I would suggest clearing the caches of some of the biggest as over time they build up to be quite big if you don't clear them often.
 
OK - I've gone into manage applications, taken out all the ones on the Sd card and the ones using like 4Kb - this what was left - the total is 110Mb. 37Mb less than the figure suggested. I am sure something is wrong as I used to have a lot more on the internal memory than this. What am I missing!!??

yeah - have found an app that confirms i have 16mb free out of 148Mb - so now i need to find where my 38mb has gone :-(
 
I think i've found out why if anyone is interested - or maybe everyone knew!! When you move apps to SD using the Froyo feature (not the other methods) - it still leaves a lot of files behind - angry birds is a good example - 16Mb on the phone, but when it is on the SD card it takes less than 2mb - Is this maybe the reason??

I just downloaded an app that shows what space i would gain by uninstalls (k's uninstaller) - and it had a lot of apps there that are supposedly on the sd card
