I'm guessing it's on T-Mobile, but you'll have to unlock it first. Rooting gives you administrative access to Android (the operating system), it has nothing to do with SIM-locking. So unlock the phone (you'll probably have to buy an unlock code) and get a Straight Talk T-Mobile SIM.
