Help Strange camera issue S4

Hello all,

I've always had my camera save pictures to my SD card and never had an issue until now. About a month ago I started to get a message pop up saying something to the effect "picture could not be saved to the SD card, because the default storage has been changed to device". I was surprised because I didn't change the storage location but thought oh well maybe it was just a glitch.

so I go back into the camera settings and change the storage back to SD card. Then I go to take another picture and get the same message. So I go back into the settings and some how its set back to device storage...

So I try changing it back to SD card storage a few times but each time the camera reverts back to internal storage on its own.

I've tried resetting the camera, restarting the phone, pulling the SDcard out and putting it back in..ect..nothing seems to work.

I can still take pictures just fine but now they are saving to internal storage vs my SDcard.

any idea why the camera will not keep the storage setting for store on SD card???

any help would be appreciated

I'm guessing that the problem started the first time you took a picture after you upgraded to Kit Kat. As of Kit Kat, an app can't write to a folder on the SD card if it doesn't have write permissions to that folder. And apps that haven't been modified to use the SD card under Kit Kat all suffer from the "can't save file" problem, since they don't have the required permissions.

You can root the phone and move the pictures from internal storage to the SD card by hand, or you can wait until (or ask) the developer modifies the app.

That's what I feared was the problem. However the only part that seems strange is I'm using the phones stock camera app that came with the phone lol I would have thought it would still be able to write to storage.

I still don't understand why they decided to take away the ability to write to storage. Seems like Samsung is getting more and more restricted as time goes on.

First save all your pictures and important stuff off the sd card. Do a format sd card to it. Then make sure your phone received the latest camera update. My camera update was separate from my firmware update. See if that all works.
