Help strange eyeball icon

Dwallace

Newbie
does anyone have a thought as to what the strange eyball icon on my notification bar could be? over the weekend I did install 2 apps. one called Robin, a virtual assistant app and one called field trip. neither seemed to launch that icon before and after rebooting my phone and launching both of those apps again the icon does not reappear so I don't think that's the culprit.

The eyeball is Big Brother watching you!!

No, it's actually part of Touchwiz. In the settings, go to Device->Display, then scroll down to Features. There you'll see "Smart Rotation" and "Smart Stay". Smart Rotation uses the camera and gyroscope to adjust the screen rotation based on the relationship between the phone and your face. I didn't find it useful so I turned that one off.

Smart Stay leaves the display on as long as someone is looking at it. I've kept that one on and haven't had any problems so far.

hmm interesting, i have had that turned on since day one and have never noticed that icon before.

Thanks for the input!

The icon should only appear briefly, as and when your phone 'looks' to see if you're eyes are still watching it. I have experienced a glitch were the icon would not go away, a restart fixed this.
