Root Strange market issue

I'm having a bit of an issue with downloading from the market. I'm running MIUI XJ rom. I can't download certain apps such as dolphin HD browser or Es file explorer. I've fully wiped, formatted sd card and reinstalled twice and even tried a different rom. Any advice welcomed as I'm not sure what else to do.

i had this same problem and it was the cache not auto emptying, and the only way i sorted it was to do a full wipe and installed the latest version of the rom instead of just updating all the time.
if you have a root explorer go to your cache folder and see if there are loads of files in it, or use quick system info and see what your cache is.
also try powering off and back on and see if you can download then.
hope this helps.

Cache is showing as 272 free from 288. Strange thing is I can download large apps like angry birds but not smaller ones like es explorer.

How long has the problem been occurring? The market itself might be having a problem with downed servers, external links or mischievous employees etc.

Sounds like its using another partition on NAND or SD card or RAM disk rather than the true cache partition. What rom are you using? Have you got a custom hboot?

Not that this helps if youre downloading bigger apps no problem.

That's what's puzzling me... I've got cm7 r2 hboot but can't see that as the problem because of my ability to install large apps. It's driven me nuts all day!!! I've looked at my cache file and that shows as 4.24mb, max 5 there are no files in it.

I like this idea. Not sure when it happened as I already had the apps installed that won't install now. I couldn't watch BBC news live first thing this morning so I tried to install another application and it wouldn't so moved to a different rom and same problem. Might just see what occurs in the morning.

4.24 free or used? If its used, whatever is using alternative locations for downloads may be based on teh actual size of cache. If app is bigger than cache> download here instead. Not taking account of the actual free space.

I've been having a few problems lately as well.

Started with Fieldrunners not downloading. Its 30mb but I have a standard cache partition and it was clear so should be enough. Then an update of another 10mb game wouldn't work. Lately things like MyBackup and a couple of others haven't worked. For these smaller ones a reboot has always worked but its not quite right.

Gotta admit its about time I reflashed after a full wipe. Not done one since Xmas.

Ive been having problems with the market, some download, but wont install, some dont download and some download and install normally same over data or wifi. same on leedroid and redux. driving me nuts :(

I think it must be a problem with the market or the apps we are after themselves as I'm unrooted and experiencing the same difficulty when trying to download ES File Explorer which I see was the very app the OP mentioned.

Hope it sorts itself out PDQ.

Does yours say cannot download due to an error?

Strangely everything is now working fine. Must have been a blip with the market. Thanks to all who gave some good advice trying to find a fix.

Cool. Can we let this thread die now please? Its not strictly about rooting, but as it mentions rooting not sure if it should be moved out.
