When my Desire goes into power saving mode, if I press the Power Button to wake it up, the phone re-boots and generally gets stuck on the opening screen - before the screen flashes off/on and the phone plays the short musical phrase and fully boots.
I seem to be able to get the phone back on using the FASTBOOT option with REBOOT (when pressing volume down with the POWER on).
If I keep the phone awake - all is well. I am running an app that wakes the phone by blowing on the mike
ALSO, phone wakes as normal with a call or when I plug in a connected USB cable.
I saved all apps and performed a factory reset once - the phone behaved normally for about 36 hours.
This happened after I got a small amount of water/sweat on the volume buttons in the gym. I dried out the phone leaving it in a warm place in rice for about 3 days.
The phone is out of warrenty but I can probably claim a new phone on insurance for
