Help Strange sensor issue

Hi, I am having a strange sensor issue with my phone. I am using a Samsung Vibrant with the stock Android 2.1 OS and the problem is that it no longer recognizes horizontal orientation. The stranger part is that a sensor test app I'm using seems to report the correct orientation. Could this be a software issue? Thank you for your time.

I sometimes have the same issue with mine, the orientation does not always switch when I turn the phone in another direction so I will just shake it a bit till it does switch and it seems to work.

Hmm...that didn't work. I hope my sensor isn't broken. Perhaps a ROM change will fix this?

Maybe, I don't know what could be the cause of it other than the setting in the display settings that changes the orientation might be disabled.

*slaps self* Oh man how did I miss that? That fixed the problem, though I don't know how that setting turned off in the first place...

lol well that used to happen on my G1 but I didnt like how the orientation changes worked on it so i kept it disabled.
