strange speedtest results?

i did a speedtest with 3g a few times today, with tethering and without. every time i do it, i get download speeds of 80-300 kbps, and upload from 400-700! is there some strange explanation for this?

then, right after, 455, 431.


not sure what it's supposed to be like. i usually leave wi-fi on.

Speedtest has some major flaws on it. are you testing on your phone or using your computer?

on my computer i get 2.5 down and 500 up consistantly, but when i use 3g on my phone or when tethering, its really low down with decent up

Try it again using speakeasy when tethering and check it again you can also go to the website on your phone and check it in 3g mode

My coworker and I did a speedtest at the same time, both on EVO, and got download of 588 and 564, upload of 473 and 432. From the same spot if we do a speedtest NON-simultaneously we get about 1200 download and 790 upload.

I thought it was interesting to see how sharing the same tower with one other user has a huge effect on speed.
