Help Strange start-up request

Some advice would be much appreciated

When I switch on my desire I get a triangular symbol containing an exclaimation mark up in the top bar.

When I pull this down to access it, it says that my Sim Card has changed and to

Looks like your phone is not detecting what part of the network it is using, you can always select the appropriate one yourself.

Kinda not sure what to press:

I am on a monthly O2 contract...........

The phone works perfectly well, I have voicemail set-up etc and O2-UK shows up on the screen when locked

Well it can detect that you are on o2, but not sure if it is pay and go, contract or tesco. You have to select the correct one to get your APN settings. Is it a new sim?

Give it a wipe (with a cloth), if still persists, contact O2.

Yes it is a new sim

Will give it a wipe [with a cloth ] and see what happens....

it was the option O2 postpay that confuses me..........I know I am not with Tesco or Pay as you Go.

Post means after. So basically you pay after you have used it, like on a monthly contract for example. This is the one you need
