Strange, strange SMS behaviour...

Hi Guys.

Since the update, I've had a really really strange SMS bug. Whenever I get "automated" texts, like ones from Vodafone to say that I have voicemail, or my bill is ready, they've been showing as from one of my contacts. Right there in the messaging thread for one of my friends.

I get a few annoying advert ones too, and today I had one that showed as from the same girl! It's so bizarre, because when I long press on those specific messages and read the info, they don't show as from her number.

I opened the contact in People, and there is only one number for her, so it's nothing to do with her as a Contact.

Does anybody know why this could be happening, and why it could be one contact in particular? I'm stumped!
 
im having problems in my SMS too.

i will get a text and the tone will ring and green light flash and also show on my homepage i have one with the envelope icon.

but then after i get nothing and when i go into my inbox i have an unread text that i never knew i had!!! this gets annoying as now i have to constantly go into my inbox to see if i have any messages!!!
 
The SMS problem being discussed in that thread is entirely different.

I'm also not 100% sure whether this is even update related. But Thanks.
 
not too sure on this.

I am on orange and I get sms from them but they come in as number 2412 or something similar.

You can check the number on the sms by long pressing and looking at the message details. But the only way I can think of is if you have the number store on a contact. Have you tried another sms client like Handcent or ChompSms?
 
Same problem. Updated a few days ago and just got a message from t-mobile but shows up as though my mate sent it.
 
Nope, have checked message details and the messages do not show as having come from her number. I've also checked her in People, and there is no unusual number saved for her.

It seems that all non-standard texts are just being attributed to that thread. It's no bother. Just very, very wierd.
