Help Strange text messaging issue

I just updated my HTC Thunderbolt with the new software. I am having a text message issue. I have Verizon service. I get an error message when I text my girlfriend. None of my texts to her will go through but i can text everyone else fine. Her inbox isn't full and she and I have repeatedly restarted our phones. What might be causing this?

When you text her, do you use her name out of your address book, or have you tried typing her number in manually to see? Is this something that used to work, and now doesn't? Have you been able to receive her texts, and will it let you reply directly to those? Does she, or you, have anything like Usage Controls on your account that might be borked?

Edit: You can also try to delete her from your contacts and re-add her.. I know I saw an option at one point for Blocking Calls when making a contact. Maybe something went wacky and it enabled that internally or something screwy. Try re-adding her, see what happens.

deleted and re-added her. no dice. Ive had the phone a few months now and have intermittent problems with the same error message with her. It hasn't lasted this long though. its going on 2 days without being able to get a message through. I can recieve her texts just fine. but can't reply. any other suggestions?

This happened to me once as well. I found that I couldnt text anyone with a Verizon number pretty much. Then just as randomly it started working later on during the day. No idea but other people have had this problem. I ended up using my Google Voice number to text people that day.

Figured out that if i click "send sms" under her nametag i can send texts that way. Still can't just go to the conversation list and text her though. weird.
