Help strange visible striations in the screen?

Hey fellas - I'm coming over from the thunderbolt. Had the phone for a few hours, and from the first time I turned it on I've been able to notice some very vague striations in the screen. Shows up most visibly with GREY.

Has anybody else noticed this? Trying to figure out if I have a lemon.

Look around for a few seconds or do a search and you will find plenty of talk about this subject ;)

I think it is actually pretty common. It tends to disappear when you go into settings->display and turn the auto-dimming off and turn the brightness up past half.

Search 'banding' rather than 'striations' and you will find a thread or two.

Pretty common for these samoled displays. The severity and pattern of the vertical banding will vary from phone to phone.

Well I think based on the above post the severity of mine is HIGH. Cause it's not going away regardless of brightness it's visible even on the background screen where the colors are varied. Seems like massive quality control problem...

I have the vertical bands on my screen only present with certain colors. As stated earlier the grey color like you see in the market shows vertical bands.

And this doesn't bug the hell out of you? I'm loving this phone and having a blast with it, but think I may bring it back to Verizon in hopes of at least being able to get one where it's much less noticeable.

What I got is weird...

Its kind of like wiggly lines under the black part of the bezel...only on the all black part. It can be seen only in certain lite. And it also looks almost like a fingerprint under the screen in one of the corners....very odd.

In regular use it can't even really be seen on my phone. I'm debating if its just common banding with the Super Amoled screen.
