Help Strange WiFi issue..

My S2 connects to home router fine - however if the phone has been in standby for a while the wifi signal is visible (and moving) but data connection is lost.

The only way to solve it is to toggle the WiFi off and back on again.... every single time!

This also appears to happen on a Galaxy Y in the same house. No other devices do this.

Any ideas?

Check in Settings/Wireless & network/wifi settings and ensure that the handset has obtained a valid IP address.

If the above is the case, and the handset is fully connected to the wireless AP but no data is flowing, it may be a routing problem. A firmware update for the router may help, but it's difficult to diagnose this sort of problem. Which router are you using - somebody else may have a similar device?

I used to have a similar problem. It turned out that my home phone was running on the same frequency as the router and interfering. So all I did was, using a pc, change the channel the router was using from 7 to 11. Haven't had any problems since.

Theres a Galaxy Y in the house and it has done similar too.

On the S2 however its every time the phone goes into longer periods of standby.

It reports signal and even strength but browsers and other web apps say no connection - until I toggle.

The only devices to do this. iPhone4 also in house and doesn't disconnect like this.

Just noticed my router is also on CH 11 - will go to 7 and see

Not sure if this is relevant or is the same case, but been having some issues with the wifi at work for my SGS2 connection. My laptop could connect with very little issue while the phone sometimes can and cannot, and mosot of the time, need to off and on wifi again to get a connection before somehow losing that connection.

So I ask the IT guy what's wrong, and he mentioned it might be a problem with the service provider, and that the internet line was not consistent. What happens is that, with a PC, the line gets refreshed automatically and it will keep getting connection. With mobile, he said maybe it doesn't get refreshed and once connection is lost, it won't get it back except when you off and on the data line.

Its why the work email gets connection error once in awhile but it quickly resolves the error because it refreshes.

Don't know how true, since I don't have that much knowledge with this type of hardware issues...

Cheers
