Help Streaming audio problems Verizon Droid X

Need help with a streaming audio problem in Verizon Droid X Android 2.3.3. I should note that I applied the latest Android updates a while ago and I only started experiencing these problems yesterday.

I'm having trouble streaming audio. My favorite apps are Google Listen and Spotify. I'm typically able to start a podcast in Listen or start playing an album in Spotify, and it will play all the way through. I usually lock the screen to prevent the play/rewind/fast forward buttons from being accidentally pressed.

Starting yesterday - I cannot play a Spotify album or Google Listen podcast all the way through. The streaming stops, I have to check the screen to see what's going on - and I have to hit the Play button again to get it to start streaming again. Later, it will stop streaming and I have to repeat this process. This will happen every 5 minutes, these two apps are basically unusable at this point.

What is going on? I've tried rebooting the phone, it did not fix the problem. Has anyone experienced this type of problem before? Thanks for any advice.

The easiest thing to check is to uninstall and re-install those apps. Usually that will help. However since you are having the same problem with more than one app, it's likely a problem with the system itself, and since you said you just updated, that makes it more likely that's the problem. You may need to do a factory reset to clear the issue up.

Oh, and welcome to Wal-Mart! Hopefully I wasn't too condescending or rude to you.

Sorry - I wasn't clear. I didn't just update. I updated a few weeks ago and this problem seems to have started just yesterday. Thanks.

Hmm ok. Please forgive me, but I will need to ask a few questions in order to fully help you with this issue. I sincerely hope you do not find these questions annoying or degrading.

Have you recently installed any other apps? Is it only Google Listen and Spotify, or have you tried Pandora as well? What about the stock mp3 music player? What about videos?

I'd be more interested in if you are experiencing this problem on a good wifi system. If it's choppy on 3G, I am going to blame the 3G service for getting bogged down. Probably from the large influx of new iPhone users and how Siri uses data.

No problem. I don't use Pandora, stock mp3 player seems fine - no cut offs. I tried playing a few videos and they seem ok. I can't really test video very much right now as I'm at work.

I tried playing a podcast using my work wifi and so far, no cutoffs. If this means it's a service problem with Verizon, then it's a big problem as I basically can't use their 3g service for streaming audio.

I've concluded that I am also unable to reliably stream anything with my X. I don't know if it's my location (there are Verizon stores all over, and my area is red on the vaunted 3G map), the phone, or what. I've tried 3-4 different radio apps as well as Pandora and Google Music -- and my audio cuts out nearly every time with every program. On and off, on and off. I decided to try Google Music because my SD card was almost full with pics, family videos and music files -- but I have to go back to music on the card because streaming is just useless. (Video does the same from YouTube, but I don't really watch them much so it doesn't bother me).

I'm sure there must be others who experience this frustration. If so, how can mobile streaming music apps succeed if streaming music isn't really a reliable option? I wish I could pay less for a "1GB" plan where I just get emails, surf the web and realize I can't use data service for anything else. But the 75 MB (for basic phones) is way too low and substandard even for just email and surfing the web. It is what it is I guess! Maybe 4G is more reliable, but I wouldn't know yet.
