I tried listening to a .m3u stream and my phone just downloaded the .m3u file, but didn't play the stream.

do I need an app for this? any recommendations? I prefer barebones, low memory apps

thanks

I'm using the stock audio player, and it recognizes m3u files properly. You do realize that m3u file is just a playlist? It lists and references associated mp3 files, which are the files that are actually played by the audio player. Does your OV have those associated mp3 files downloaded too? Open the m3u file with a text editor, and you'll see the list of mp3 files necessary. FYI.

yes i did know that m3u is just a playlist. but my player is not playing the files on the list. it just downloads the m3u file. when I click the file, it shows up in my "notifications" that the file was downloaded and nothing plays on the music player.

I would check the file in a text editor, but I'm not exactly sure where the file landed when it was downloaded... But I know it's a valid m3u file because I can listen to the stream on my computer just fine.

...on edit...

well actually i took a look at the m3u file and it does not list mp3 file(s). there is only one line of text in it:

http://www.inwoon.net:8000/FreeWillRadio.org

hmmmm.

Hmm, I'm puzzled too... I've never dealt with a m3u file format with just a URL link. I usually play m3u audiobook files, and they've always contained just a list of the associated mp3 files names. Sorry, I'm not much help...

Download the winamp app and try that. I have not tested it but I used to always stream .m3u's to winamp on the pc and they should have the same functionality.
