Streaming media from computer to SGS2 with MHL/HDMI Adapter

Hello people, first post incoming:

Quick question.

I'm wondering if there's a way for me to gain access to the files on my computer (videos mainly) through my home wifi on my SGS2. This way I could (I hope) stream video's on my television through the MHL/HDMI adapter. Thanks!

Seems a bit of an arse about face way of doing it - playing media on your pc via your phone on your TV.

But yes, it'll work. You'll need some sort of DLNA server on your PC (windows 7 has this built in - otherwise look at twonky or something like that).

Access the PC via the allshare app.

If you have something like es file explorer can you not access files on your pc via wifi?

It allows me to view blueray quality movies over WIFI on my 46" television in my livingroom. How can that not be interesting? I don't wanna purchase an Orb or any other hardware (that costs too much) that plays my vidoes from my PC when I have a phone powerful enough to do it, I want to take advantage of it :)
I'll search for "twonky" thanks.

Like "all explorers" and FTP solutions out there, they don't allow streaming. A blueray movie is anything from 6gb to 20gb... Which obviously is too much for a FAT32 device (SD card and internal memory) which has a 4gb (per file) limit.

The best way I've found until now is using something called Remote Potato. I install a Remote Potato server on my PC - and with an app called Remote Media Center it allows me to stream a video directly from my PC through wifi on my SGS2. However it's highly unstable once the video files are 2gb and bigger because Remote Potato is actually compiling/recompressing (or whatever its doing) the video in realtime. The end result on my television wouldn't be true HD resolution either, because it adjusts to a more "smartphone'ish friendly resolution" to allow streaming over the internet aswell. You can adjust quality - but highest quality still isn't optimal for an HD television.

I guess I'll just have to wait for a better app/solution.

You should install a media server on your computer and set it up/turn it on and then use the Allshare app that comes with the GS2 (click on Remote device).

Luckily, my televisions all have an ethernet port and so can play back media and videos from my pc which acts as a media server. Bypasses my SGS2.

How do you do this?

I have a Sony bravia ex724 connected via ethernet. Is there any way I can stream video, music, photos to this via my SGS 2. I do not have a tv wireless adapter which I'm assuming you need for DLNA streaming (and for the Sony remote app to work)
