Stuck at a choice

Actually, irregardless if you have pre-ordered, I am pretty sure that activation fee is going to still be $36. It's an activation fee, so basically once your phone is activated then that fee will go on your bill. So everyone that just ordered, I believe, will have this higher fee on their bill. There are some protests going around on change.org about it. So, go on there and sign every one that you see!

True, the activation fee has always been $36, but prior to today the upgrade fee was $18 and unless I misunderstood the OP, I believe he was doing an upgrade, not activating a new line.

yea, im just upgrading, im hoping the price drops down to 199 so i dont have to spend 550 on it, but i also heard that the main line of the contract gets a upgrade once a year, is this true? is so i might not have to pay the $250 for out of contract upgrade
 
Have any of you tried upgrading through the website?

Many that were not due an upgrade until later this year were able to pre order for $299

maybe they let you preorder it and they secretly charged you 250? i mean it is att...

I am not due for an upgrade but was able to pre order it through ATT website for $299. Lets see what happens.
 
I don't see why they call it an upgrade fee when new customers aren't upgrading. I'll complain if they try to throw that BS at me.

For new customers it's an "activation fee" and an "upgrade fee" for existing customers. Both fees are currently $36.
