Stuck checking for errors

I booted my phone this morning and it has had "Preparing SD card Checking for errors" since boot. I am I bit worried now, seeing as it has been a few hours. Its a class 2 4 gig. I haven't had any problems with it until now. Is there any option besides just formatting it? I would hate to lose everything seeing as everything is on the card because this phones lack of internal storage!

do you have an sd card reader? if so pull it out of the phone and put in to your computer see if you can pull all the files off that way. then place back in your phone and format, hook back to the computer and transfer files back.

I just attempted that, but my computer doesn't recognize the card. It does the media inserted sound, but it does not show anything has been inserted.

I hate say it but your data may be corrupted,
you running windows or linux?

if under windows go to administrative tools then computer management, then disk management your sd card should show up, it may say needs to be initialized and formatted if it does you are going to lose all your data.
There may be a way to recover it but in windows it normally means buying a recovery program.

When I try to load the disk manager it stops responding, and when I have the micro sd card in the reader my computer will not recognize any other media I insert.

I was able to use recuva to salvage everything. It has an option to search corrupt storage for undeleted files, thus I was able to get everything off and restore the card. I have decided not to use that one anymore just in case.

Good to hear. Ya I would hesitate to use that one as something had to corrupt it.
