Root Stuck half way through rooting process - Help

Currently stuck in the middle of the rooting process with nowhere to turn.

I have followed The Unlockr instructions as recommended by B2L and it has proved very good.

However, I have got to the point where I download the superuser.zip and place it inside the phone's USB storage.

The instructions say to put in the root part but all I have is one screen for the phone...so I cut and pasted the superuser.zip file into there.

However, when I came to the next option of "flash zip to sdcard" I had no option for this. All I have is:

reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
install zip from sdcard
backup and restore
mounts and storage
advanced
go back

So I have stuck. Will it have anything to do with the file being a Win RAR zip file? (I dont know but just curious).

Should I have been able to see a root file when connecting my phone as mount and storage?

I hope someone can help me asap.

Thanks

Ok I managed to jump the above issue and now have superuser.zip installed on the phone.

I did a reboot but then could not complete the process "Stop the phone uninstalling the custom recovery image". When I connected the phone again via usb and opened a command prompt "adb shell" it comes up as not recognised.

Does anyone know what I have done wrong? Im worried now that all this hard work is going to be for nothing :(

Install zip from sd card is the correct one. Then select the correct .zip file

I'd suggest a factory reset and then reinstall the recovery image but even more so you sound like you will need to reinstall the drivers. Check to see if the phone drivers are installed correctly by going into device manager with your phone connected via usb.

Member B2L helped me through this the other day. I never found the install-recovery.sh file so had to skip the process. Strange thing is after several reboots and a battery pull my phone has not reverted back to a locked bootloader. It is still rooted with CM7 with netarchy kernel. Strange huh?
