I just got my first android phone yesterday - the optimus s, and am seeing that the phones is transmitting data in 1x as opposed to 3g. Not sure, if this is a phone/software issue or something with Sprint?
1g is the "low end" internet signal if you will, when 3G speeds are not available. I get it a lot when I am in commercial buildings or shopping malls. If it keeps that way when you are outside in a normally strong signal area I would perform a PRL upgrade in your phones settings and check for a firmware and software upgrade too. After all of that try and restart your phone. You should restart it once a day anyway. Gives your phones operating system a fresh start each day and makes it run better in my opinion. The are really not designed to stay of 24/7. I hope that all helps.
