Help Stuck in boot loop

ok so I tried this, and amazingly it didn't reset so I guess its not a device issue. Thing is now what do I do? If it is something backed up to my google account is there a way to delete whatever it is? Getting a new account isn't really an option.

Well... now comes the fun part. Troubleshoot your account at every step.

So...

1) Go to settings, accounts, add your Google account. Turn on wifi, walk away from access point, and see if the boot loop starts.

2) Go to settings accounts, add VZ Back up assistant. Turn on wifi, walk away form access point, and see if the boot loop starts.

3) If you haven't done so already, add your home access point. Turn on wifi, walk away form access point. See if the boot loop starts.

At each step, if you find that the boot loops begin, then you found your problem.

If you have no issues until now, then using your choice of Wifi/3g/4g, begin to reinstall all your apps form the market. FROM THE MARKET.

I noticed that all the Apps I had on my BIONIC, were not avaible on the NEXUS market. Which means that not all apps were compatible with the NEXUS.

But if I backed my phone up during activation, it installed everything.

So....

4) Install your apps 3-5 at a time (in batches) from the market. I had 75 apps. After each batch, walk away from the access point with the wifi turned on.

5) Keep doing this until you've reinstalled all your apps.

If the phone bootloops after a batch, you've found your problem in that batch of apps.

Uninstall and trouble shoot one at a time.

I bet that not all of your original apps will be available on the NEXUS market, or at least now you've installed the ICS version and not some old version stored on you Google account.

Let me know if this works for you.

I have a feeling that your phone will be back to normal here shortly.

ok i am gonna get on this...i talked to samsung tech support and the guy was telling me to create a new account, to which i am like no way bud this google account is turning into my online identity at this point (which is kind of sad to say) anyway i appreciate all the help. Quick question though, were you using google wallet when yours crapped out? i am wondering if that is what might be causing it specifically since its not supported by verizon not sure if they have their red hands that far into the tech of the phone.

I have issues with Google wallet, but none that create boot loops.

I can't add my Citi card to GW, I can only add money to the Google card.

So no....no boot loops with GW.

Mine reboots as well if you forget to turn off WiFi before leaving the house for work. However I have noticed that getting in range of any WiFi network will bring it out of the boot loop. It doesn't even have to be one that you can access. At that point I turn my WiFi off and everything is fine.

That is what mine was doing. Mine was definitely linked to my google account still going thru and redownloading apps and checking for loops, none so far. You might want to try doing what ymdroid said above and see if you can fix it.

Hi to all --

I had a problem today with my phone while it was on wi-fi - and it sort of froze.
I say 'sort of froze' because I'm not sure what exactly happened, only that the phone would not respond to my pressing the power button (right) to awaken the device. Yet, my LED was pulsing, indicating received messages/emails. I then attempted a long-press to restart the phone - nothing. I had to pull the battery to get the phone to restart. I've had the phone since Friday - and this is the first time this has happened. And, the only difference in usage between today and Fri/Sat was that I had the phone on Wi-fi since last night.

I know I'm probably in the wrong thread...but this seems close to my problem.

Any thoughts on whether I should contact Verizon?

Thanks,

Hi,

I'm not on VZ, but on 3 in DK. the exact same has happened to my nexus. Powerbutton goes dead, led is on, but only solution is pull out battery, insert battery boot phone. It is related to Wi-Fi. I shall test it systematically and report back.
Anyone else experienced this?
Regards

Hi everyone. Please forgive my bad english... I will get the GNex on the next weeks. I'm really careful with my buyings so I research all kind of stuff about the things I buy. I'm researching for any issues about this device and I read the whole boot loop issue you describe here. Here in Mexico I will get the GSM version with telcel because it's the only way to get it with warranties... I can buy it from mercadolibre (something like the latin version of ebay), but you know, it's not always a confident way to get something because even when Samsung could give you support, it's not the same than go to fight directly with a telcel rep...

So... I must say I'm not a 3g heavy user. Actually I only use it for, let's say, esporadic cases (donwnload maps from google maps using the gps, check a really urgent mail if I'm not on a wi-fi area, etc...) so I only activate 3g if necesary... about the wi-fi, I'm always careful to turn it on if I know I am on a wi-fi area and careful to turn it off when I finish to use any browser (I always think about the battery life). Obviously sometimes I forget to turn it off or I get distracted and forget it and I move from place to place with the wi-fi turned on.

I read the most boot loop issues are with the CMDA version (you talk about the Verizon version). Do you think the GSM version has the same issue?

Another question... and I'm sorry if I miss a little bit the thread... but I can't decide between the GNex and the Note (it is supposed the ICS will arrive soon to this one)... wich one would you choose? I don't care about the size of the note... but, you know, I'm a industrial designer and I find really atractive the S-pen for low or quick sketching.

Thanks in advice

My GSM version of Galaxy Nexus got stuck in a boot loop once, and I managed to get out of it by doing a cache partition wipe. It is one of the options when you enter Fastboot Mode (hold volume + & -, and power button while restarting), then Recovery Mode. If it works, it could save you hours restoring all you settings so it might be worth trying before going for the full Factory Reset.

This is the second time that a reBoot loop has happened and I cant express how much data I have lost in the previous weeks bcause of this problem. It really pisses me off how the first time it happened; I was watching videos on YouTube then all of a sudden the screen blanked out and had the non-stop reboot. The second time now, I have been reading in the above posts that the "wifi" may be an issue to this problem, and that's exactly what I did, pressed the wifi button and instead of receiving internet, I received a bloody reboot loop. FML.

And Holy crap, seriously, I would like to thank the people to put their efforts in finding a way to solve this horrific problem while we should be all relying on a phone like this.

First, thank you to all who have found the issues and fixes. I ran into this problem with my new Galaxy Nexus.

I logged in to my google account like normal and experienced the boot loop. I then went into the wireless settings and "forgot" each of the saved wireless networks. When I forgot the network I was connected to, my nexus reboot once. Then, all is well. No issues since.

I am disappointed that this is still an issue, but thanks to this thread I am all set.

and its not only a nexus problem i have the same on my motorolla razr gsm, i started to get the boot loop when i run wpa tester, after that it was just booting till i made a factory reset

I registered just so I could share my experience with a similar bug.

I have a brand new Google Nexus which I have rooted and updated to Jelly Bean. I was experiencing similar symptoms - boots, loads most of my background processes, then an immediate reboot - repeat, repeat, repeat.

Disabling wifi halted the boot loop, but as soon as I turned it on again, it would reboot.

I dug around in the advanced wifi settings and found "avoid Poor Connections" which was on. The wifi network I was using has some connectivity issues, so I disabled this setting, turned on wifi and didn't experience the problem for 15 minutes.

To test, I reenabled that setting, restarted wifi and the boot loop began again.

In my situation, turning off the "avoid poor connections" setting resolved this issue. Still a dumb bug if you ask me, though.
