Stuck in short boot loop

Hi Guys need your help here
Have been running pac man rom for 2 weeks now, today the battery drained so i tried to charge it and re start the phone. It is stuck in a weird boot loop and doesnt go beyond the s4 logo screen. Tried rebooting into recovery but the second i press the volume upup it reboots into the boot loop again.

Looks like it just restart without even accepting the input (of the volume up or down).

Please help!!!!

Pull your battery, and try and get into recovery by holding all buttons (vol up, home and power then inserting the battery. From recovery try to reboot the phone and if that doesn't work repeat and wipe cache and dalvik cache then reboot. If that doesn't work do a geddit reset. I'm almost positive trying for recovery by battery pulling as described will get you out of the bootloop anyway, if you can get into recovery to start with.

Tried the method mentioned by you, it gets into the screen where it asks me to either press the up or down button. But doesn't register the input and keeps rebooting to the logo again in a loop.

It looks like your pressing volume down and getting into download (odin) mode and not up. Download mode has the screen warning you about a custom OS, recovery takes you to recovery. The fact that you can get to download mode is good, it means your phone will work again. Come back if you still can't get into recovery.

Not going into that mode volume up plus the other combo doesn't do anything. Even when i have them pressed and slide the battery in.

I see, so no recovery or download mode then. Trying to ignore the warning from the installing a custom OS by pressing volume up takes you back to the boot loop? Yes?

If so, I'm afraid it looks like more than a problem of a simple boot loop to me. Someone may be able to help further, but for now I'm stumped. :(

If you cannot boot into Recovery Mode you will need to download and flash, via Odin, the stock Samsung firmware for your model of phone and CSC code and then re-root your phone and install a custom Recovery and then you can restore your last nandroid backup... you did make a recent nandroid backup, didn't you? ;)

Nice one lads... EDIT is back in forum posts!!! :)

Thanks for trying dynomot!

haha ironass now you're just teasing! Didn't take any back up but that's ok. Most of my stuff is on the cloud!
How do I flash via odin when the phone won't start and the pc won't recognise it. Can you please advise. Thanks!

I did not realise that you could not get into Download Mode either. Otherwise I would have suggested flashing as per #1.5 of 28 Galaxy S4 models - know yours?

If you really cannot get into either Recovery or Download Mode there's not a lot you can do I'm afraid, except a visit to a Samsung Service Point.

I concur with Ironass. I just wanted another opinion. It does appear your phone is behind the scope of self repair.
:(

Thanks for taking the time to help me guys, off to the service centre it is!
Let's hope they don't do any drama about a rooted phone.
