Help Stuck on 2.1

I was impatient in waiting for the OTA 2.1 and installed a leaked version months back. I have on again off again tried to upgrage to 2.2 but have failed. I have tried everything I can find on any forums or youtube tutorials. I am probably an idiot, and will be put on blast. Just looking for a little help. I have tried several update.zips but can't get into recovery mode. if i hold x and power, the phone gets stuck at the "M" boot screen. It wont continue on to the recovery menu. I tried flashing with rsd, but the flash fails every time. Any ideas? I would like to get froyo.

Try downloading from location 3 - I think that was the one that worked for me the last time I needed to update from 2.1.

Once you are on FRG01B (2.2 update #1) you will want to graduate to FRG22D (2.2 Update #2)
