Root Stuck on 2.2

Mixel

Newbie
Hello,
I've downgraded my phone (HTC Desire HD) to version 2.2 (from 3.12) to try to root the phone, but unsuccessfully.
Now it takes the phone 10-20 minutes to turn itself on, I've tried going back to the 3.12 version (using RUU via the boot-loader), it does start the process but it automatically forces a restart of the boot-loader (which takes the phone a solid amount of minutes to do) and due to the delay in the restart, the RUU program thinks the phone has been disconnected from the computer and stops the process.
I'm basically unable to root the phone or upgrade it at the moment, and every operation I want to try takes ages due to the delay in the phone turn-on.
Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

Yes, I have used the hack kit.
Its does boot properly, and works, but its takes ages to do so (and thus preventing external processes that require your phone to reboot from working).
Also, the visionary root is failing time after time to permaroot the phone, but it has installed the superuser though.
Also, we it does turn on after the RUU's forced "reboot to bootloader" process, it has a white HTC logo on black background, it does not go past this screen.

Once you're downgraded, you don't need to root with visionary etc, the hack kit will root, S-OFF and install clockwork for you. When you're in the bootloader, does it say ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF or similar at the top of the screen?

Have you ran the hack kit again?

No, its does not.
Also it should mention that the phone gets stuck on the HBOOT menu for over 20 mins, only afterward it responds, it also shuts down unexpectedly when its on and in "rest" mode.
I did try using the hack kit again, but its almost impossible due to the slow turn-on, the phone goes offline and the hack kit process is stuck on "<waiting for device>".

By the way, that is the information on the phone while its in HBOOT mode:
ACE PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.85.0007
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.03.02.26_M

May be I should try and root using UnrEVOked's method? Or try flashing a ROM? Although I got a feeling the latter may potentially bring me closer to owning an over-priced brick.

Just noticed it have created the thread in the wrong section, can some one move it to "Desire HD - Support and Troubleshooting" ?

I can move it to support and troubleshooting if you want, but I think it is better in here, as it appears to be a root issue.

Flashing custom ROM's is most definately a root thing, so I'll leave the thread in here.

To flash custom ROM's, you would need to have a custom recovery, such as ClockWorkMod, on your phone... I would be careful that you don't end up bricking your phone. I am in work at the moment, but will try and help you out later, when I can spend more time on here.

Well, during my attempt to flash it, the phone was stuck (and did not respond) on HBOOT for two hours, then it shut itself down.
At the moment it does not turn on or respond to the charger (even after messing with connecting/disconnecting the charger and inserting/taking out the battery).

Yeap, it is bricked. Too bad I've ordered it from ebay and managed to loose the warranty document. May be I should try taking it to some local store, but who knows how much they will charge me....
Eh, absurd, I bought this phone just 2 days ago.

Yeap, the attempt to flash it messed it up.
I don't have another battery, but I've tried charging it (with no luck). I'm assuming the Radio files are corrupted, but I do not own (or have friends who own) a riff box, so I think I'll just try to fix it locally for a fee, hopefully they will also install the ROM I want.

Aye, the only things that can perma brick the DHD are bad radio flashes and if you mess with internal partition sizes (to my knowledge).

Were you actually trying to flash a ROM or run the hack kit again? I think it uses a radio exploit to root.

Yea, I was trying to flash a ROM...
I guess at the store they could install a variety of androids ROM, so what version (update) should I choose for proper rooting and then ROM flashing?
