Help Stuck on Android eyeball boot screen (HTC Incredible)

I've seen others post this but not about this phone yet and for a STOCK Dinc.

The OS on my phone is completely stock. I have NOT rooted it or changed "roms." Still, occasionally when I restart the phone it gets stuck on the boot screen (eyeball with 2 dots). So far I have been able to get it unstuck by removing the battery, but this is not ideal.

Any definitive solutions?

only definitive solution would be to try a factory reset and if that doesn't work try a fresh install of 2.2. If that doesn't fix it, it is most likely hardware related.
