Root Stuck on HTC quietky Brilliant Screen

Lurker
Help, tried to root my HTC One SV from boost, and it is stuck on the htc quietly brilliant screen. I'm not new to rooting and read 3 times before I attempted this. Any help would be great, I can get to fastboot and recovery but not get the phone to fully boot past the htc screen. Thanks!

Ok, 1st off we're gonna need a little more information as to exactly what you done so far. Since you say that you have fastboot, I take it you have successfully unlocked your phone?

Do you have CWM installed? I'm guessing that you do so go ahead and do a battery pull. Leave the battery out for about 20 seconds. Insert the battery and go through the steps to get into CWM. Once there, do a factory reset, wipe the cache, go to ADVANCED and wipe dalvik. Reboot the phone and hopefully that'll get you booted up.

If not, here's a great guide on just about everything you'll need to set up your phone.

Hi there, welcome to AF!!

Have you tried going through the entire rooting process again (other than unlocking the bootloader which you shouldn't need to do again if you did it properly)? Is it possible that there was some glitch in the process and this is the result?

Ok, I do believe we can get you up and running with a pretty easy fix.

1st- Go into CWM and make a backup. That way, if you don't already have a backup folder on your sd card, one will be made.

If you already have a CWM folder with a backup folder inside, cool!! You can skip that step.

Download my copy of this Jelly Bean CWM backup. Pull you sd card out and somehow, either by pc or other device, take the CWM backup that you download and place it in the CWM backup folder on your sd card. Put the sd card back in your One SV, boot back into CWM, and restore the new CWM backup you've downloaded here. That, by golly, should solve your problem!

Unzip the main folder
place in your CWM backup folder on your sd card
flash.

THIS IS ALREADY ROOTED!!!!

Hold on a minute!!!!! You said you have cwm touch installed????

As far as i know, the only touch recovery we have for this phone is twrp. If a cwm touch has been released for this phone them i am not aware of it.

If you have twrp touch then you are going to need to flash cwm with fastboot 1st because none of this will work with twrp. This is a cwm backup.

Start here and use this. This is a proven method and i2f put a lot of time putting it together for people to use. Use it. If you follow the steps in this thread correctly, your phone will work.

Also, just out of curiosity, post me a link where you got that touch CWM recovery please.

I'll check back later and see how you're doing.

Also, when people take their time to try and help you out, show a little gratitude and hit the THANKS tab. ;)

ok, so got ahold of a copy of cwm 6.0.2.8 and tried your file again, said "md5 mismatch", any ideas?

nevermind, figured out the md5 problem....spaces in the folder name...duh, im so frustrated that now I'm letting little things slip

i finally got everything figured out, thanks for the nandroid restore, that was a huge help! thanks once again!

My pleasure man. Getting stuck in a bootloop with an new phone IS NOT A GOOD FEELING! :D

If you are interested in a few MODs, check out these-

This link will take you to Guspeed's MODs. Make sure you choose the ones for Jelly Bean. There is the HTC flashlight app, a MOD that themes your status bar (battery icon, wifi, etc), and the quicklaunch toggles. You have 2 to choose from. One is the Sense look (which I prefer) and the other is a non-Sense toggle look.

I've tested each of them and they all work great. It's a little something to help jazz your phone up until the custom ROMs start being released.

There are also 2 camera apps available. The one from the S4 with gallery included.

And the Sense 5 camera MOD.

There are actually quite a few more that are in the All Things Root Section too. I suggest reading through it thoroughly.

One more that I want to make you aware of is the WiFi hotspot. You'll need a launcher like ADW or Apex to unlock the actual stock WiFi app that comes with the HTC One SV. I've used it and it worked great when connecting to my pc and laptop but just wouldn't connect to my tablet no matter what I tried.

Josue338 shared a modified version of Wireless Tether For Root Users that will allow the phone's WiFi hotspot to connect to ANYTHING! lol
Just make sure to go into the app settings and change the profile to generic ICS/JB (wlan0). Here is a link to his post with the download link in case you need it.

Again, I am glad you are up and running again. Welcome to the SV section and hope to see you around. :D

I've been stuck on this problem for a week now. I have gone through the forums, and unless I have over looked something I can't find the fix to my problem. I can Get to Fastboot, and using Cmd on my Windows Vista 64bit system I can flash CWMrecovery.img. This then goes to the White "Quietly Brilliant" screen w/ the red warning and loads CWM-based Recovery v6.0.2.8. I have done: FactoryReset, Wiped Cache, & Wiped Dalvik Cache. I have the BootLoader unlocked (or at least I have gotten to the "Lock Screen" and selected "Yes". The Hboot screen shows at the top:

*** TAMPERED ***
*** UNLOCKED ***
K2_CL PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.00.0000
RADIO-1.12.50.0516
OpenDSP-v9.2.0268.1214
eMMC-boot

I made a nandroid of the stock system the first time I booted the recovery.img (mind you that was also the version that had the screen problems, it wasn't v6.0.2.8) When I went to restore it failed saying, "Error while restoring /system!"
I have since tried to restore the system from the stock zip with no luck. I also got a hold of JB_FULL_STOCK_NANDROID/ and it has the same problem as my nandroid.

This is my first HTC device (I usually go for the samsung galaxy series phones. My last phone was the SPH-710BST I loved it but dropped it and killed it.) Unfortunately for me this was the closest phone to my GS2 that my warranty from Best Buy gave me without spending the extra $150 (that i didn't have at the time) for the GS3.

Thanks in advance for your time and help
