Root Stuck on HTC screen with 4 triangles in corners

Hello, my son was trying to unroot his HTC Evo, when I mad a mistake and pulled the usb cord out. Now it is stuck on the black HTC screen with the 4 triangles in the corner and it won't do anything else. Computer won't recognize it or anything. I have tried everything that I have seen the the forums on this issue. Is there any other solutions or is his phone gone forever?
