Help Stuck on the Samsung Splash Screen completely bummed out.

So I did the battery removal and the Factory Reset things but I'm still stuck on that screen. I'm going to the t-mobile store where I purchased my phone to try to get a replacement. Has anyone had any issues returning a malfunctioning phone for a replacement? The splash screen got stuck after I did the Kies software update followed by an OTA Gingerbread software update t-mobile was pushing.

What really bums me out is I was in the middle of a really good Words for Friends game which was being played over the span of several days.:(

My t-mobile guy Sam convinced me into getting a new S2 so now I've got a white S2 running jellybean 4.0.4. I saw a thread in the all things root section about all methods to unbrick a rooted phone so even though my black S2 wasn't rooted I guess it can't hurt to try some.

If you start Odin on your PC, turn off your phone, hold both volume buttons (phone still off) plug in the USB cable, what happens then?

It's going to be at least an hour before I finish downloading and extracting the gingerbread file but the good news is Odin is working and has opened the com port. :driver: I think I'm on the road to recovery.:stickyman: I'll keep this thread updated as I follow the steps.

Great! You're on the road to recovery. :D

Don't forget the last step.

- Power off your phone again. Hold both volume buttons and the power button at the same time. When the phone vibrates, let go of the power button but keep holding both volume buttons. In a few seconds you should be in the recovery menu. Use volume buttons to move up/down and power button to select. *if power button doesn't work, use your home key*. Go to wipe data/factory reset and select it. Next, select format cache partition. Now select reboot. Enjoy your new stock rom.

You are the greatest Atmazzz! I'm at the welcome to android screen now, I just have to wait for my youngest to get back from the Boy's and Girl's club to get her sim card and setup her new Galaxy S2. My lack of patience got her one of the best android phones around.

One thing though Atmazzz; the power button does not do the select function, You have to tap on the Home button to select an option in the recovery menu.

Yeah, I don't know why some phones are like that. That's why I added *if power button doesn't work, use your home key* in the instructions. ;)
