I have seen this error as well. The issue (after doing a lot of testing) is that your SDCard cannot be made into a Gold Card (it is incompatible).

The only workaround is to use another SDCard and if it is compatible, it will go past this stage.

There are some guides that show you how to manually make one so you can test, but I would suggest going to WalMart (or wherever) and get a cheap 2GB SanDisk card and use that. I have had a lot of luck with their 2GB Cards.
