Help Stupid question - should I update to the Epic 2.2 firmware from Sprint?

I have not been here for a while so I am out of touch with the latest info. I am happily running my Epic on 2.1 and using it very well. It's rooted, with wifi tether / shootme working flawlessly

Should I upgrade to the Sprint 2.2 firmware, or should I wait until a rooted 2.2 firmware comes out that does not endanger my rooted functions?

If you are rooted, why not install an alternative ROM?

Though I haven't done it, I've read that going from where you are now to EC05 will cause you to lose root, but the same clockworkmod one-click root will regain it for you. Again, I have NOT done this personally, just relaying on some info I've read.

Seems like a pretty easy process, but as always, there's certainly risk involved when rooting your phone.

And yeah...if you're already rooted, I would suggest a custom ROM as well, as it really lets you see the phone capabilities.
