I've had 5 (3 had hinge issues one the battery blew up in it and the last one was for not getting text messages) g2 replacement phones. I am sick of this phone. I get no bars anywhere at home even outside. My sisters gravity 3 gets signal. I have the phone on Wifi most of the time just so I can get my calls.

Should I just say to hell with it and buy a different phone? I am really thinking of going to dumb phone at least they get reception out here.

Ouch! Sorry to hear about your bad luck. I'm not really sure how Tmo's signal is out in ur area, I'm on the other side of the country and it rocks out here. As to your question: being that this is, in fact, a G2 forum, most of us are partially inclined to say "stick it out. There's gotta be a good one coming your way, soon..." Although I do know there are threads on this forum about the longevity of the hinge, battery issues, and etc.. The one thing I've learned in the last year or so playing with/learning Android, its totally a personal preference. What's good for me, isn't necessarily good for you or the next guy/gal and vice versa. I'd do a little reasearch on Tmo's network coverage out in your area, maybe 3g coverage is better than 4g out there, which would explain your lousy reception since this phone does not support a 3g band. Hope that helps. Welcome to the forums ;)
