how was i rude for assuming u missed a simple instruction? well im sorry u felt i was trying to be rude i wasnt, clearly ur offended very easily. my apologies once again.

gamekid2k copy the link to the zip file to your clipboard, visit the link to the main page of that site then paste the link into the url

Stuck on the first step here, USB driver for x64. The installer runs, but for some reason a dialogue comes in at some point complaining that several .inf files are missing from the expected location. This is after everything seemed to unzip when starting the installer app, too, so I don't know how I could be doing anything wrong? I even started the installer in Administrator mode. Anyway, did I mention it takes nearly three hours for the USB driver installer app to run its course? After a very long wait, and the dialogues complaining about missing files, it tells me that the driver could not be installed with little/no additional information, then politely quits.

It's running through its paces for a second time now. If it fails again I guess I will look for another computer to try this from.

Yeah that sounds like a computer problem. Is the system fairly old?

Well, it looks like androidinvasion.us is down, so I could not download another version of the driver linked in this thread after getting to another PC to try this with. I needed the x86 driver for this one. Following a link on the front page though I came to this place which seems to have the latest drivers for both x86 and x64. As you can see, it tells you to just ignore the "install failed" message which I received and reboot your PC. I tried this on both my own (x64) PC and the second x86 PC that I came to, and the driver still fails. It seems to be doing whatever it is doing, although on my 64-bit PC it takes forever to get through the install, the x86 one moves through it rather speedily on the second PC but each of them simply don't recognize my phone once it is plugged up. I have set the phone into USB debug mode, both with and without mock networks.

I can still give this another go on yet another PC but I am a little gunshy of muddying up another computer with this driver that doesn't seem to function. Is there anything blindingly obvious that I could possibly be missing in the mix here?

Okay, answering my own question here, it looks like this phone's driver hates Vista 64 and XP 32. Running the driver installer on 7 64 bit cured my problem. Upon plugging the phone up via USB, Windows Update connected and automatically put the driver in place. Hope this helps anybody who sees the same weirdness I did.

vista64 here. had no problems at all with it.

new member can someone set me up to root my june 14th metro samsung galaxy indulge to get rid of bloatware and extend battery?
thanks

so im a complete noob to this metro indulge deal, i installed the usb driver but when i try to do the root, it downloads the zip, but once i try to extract the files, the run.dat is not on the extracted folder.. am i doing something wrong?? please help! such a nice phone.. such crappy battery

Please read the instructions thoroughly.
You NEED to disable your anti-virus software for the root procedure to work.
If you use the files from within this forum, we can all vouch for their safety and can pretty much guarantee you won't catch a virus from them.
The reason why you must do this is because the root script is using a known exploit that forces the phone to yield superuser privilege by accident, and as such it is blocked by most (if not all) respectable anti-virus programs.

So delete the zip file you downloaded, DISABLE your anti-virus program, and re-download the file again.
Once that's over, retry to unzip the file, and you will find run.bat in there.
But please, do follow all instructions to the letter. You don't want any headaches now, do you?

thanks for your help!, but i followed the instructions, the superuser app was installed in my phone but the bloatware still there.. what am i doing wrong now? i downloaded the file from the 3rd post.

OK, I have been working with some of the guys over at Android Creative Syndicate an have merged my bloatware removal script with there new 1 click root script. This new script will root the phone, remove the bloatware and install a working SuperUser.apk. This means the phone is now protected by the superuser app and not left open to grant access to all apps.

The new download can be found at: http://androidinvasion.us/downloads/Root_And_Bloatware_Removal.zip

Make sure you have drivers for the phone installed beforehand.
http://androidinvasion.us/downloads/SAMSUNG USB Drivers for Mobile Phones (x86).exe
http://androidinvasion.us/downloads/SAMSUNG USB Drivers for Mobile Phones (x64).exe

Unzip the files to a location on the computer and then run the run.bat

So is the first link the latest thingamabobber to get rid of bloatware??? Umm I also tried downloading it but my computer says it's "Unsafe blocked by smart screen filter" in red. So i'm scared :( lol
Does it matter if I have windows 7?

I have not luck with the windowz version. I installed the drivers, etc but nothing. With the linux version I was able to root easily.

Do you have a linux version of the run.bat file so I can remove the Metro stuff?

Does anyone have the bloatware apps handy? Or know where they can be found?

Re-ODIN & your phone will magically transform to stock. If you need to remove all, or only some, again be more choosy next time you do the bloatware removal script... I believe the other ROM(s), cwm/basix/electric sheep, will remove all of them by default, but I am unsure as it's been a while since I've had anything other than stock on here & haven't tried electric sheep at all tbh..

Also, I believe if you search this thread,, you'll find this post HERE that explains it perfectly?

Good luck!

OK Never Mind, I read a few posts up, so I will take all your words for it and disable virus software and redownload. Sorry for the idiocy.

Hey folks, the Root_And_Bloatware_and_Removal.zip is infected with a Virus. Bad news! Anyone have a clean version of the .zip?

most files for root will show up as a virus. this is why you are supposed to disable your AV

The Bloatware removal worked great except for MetroPCSEasyWiFi? I see that the SamsungForte_MetroPCSEasyWiFi_4.0.111.apk was moved to the Bloatware folder on my SDCard, but the app is still in my Apps on phone and runs everytime I turn on WiFi. When I adb shell in and go to /system/app, the file is not there? It looks like I accepted updates at some point so does anyone know where the file may be located??

Hi all!

Im using a Samsung Galaxy SCH-R910 on the Metro PCS network. Im having the same problem that bodybygriz is having, and then some:
I am unable to remove many bloat apps,
(((including:
-MetroPCSEasyWifi,
-Metro Navigator,
-Metro Appstore,
-Facebook,
-Email (just an icon that says 'email'
-Loopt
-Ironman 2 (I read this was added to the .apk bloatlist, but still not removing it..)
-My Metro (I read it's debatable to remove this...)
-POCKET EXPRESS
-Visual Voicemail ))))

and have read that using a combination of applications ( ranging from Titanium Backup, Astro File Manager, Root Explorer, Rom Manager, (sigh)...) will allow me to accomplish removing these. ..Is there a known less time consuming way of doing this? For instance, is it possible for me to just add these to the bloatlist myself and edit the run.bat file somehow?

Thank you in advance,
-Sean

Its actually not tht complicated, once you have root just dwnload ES File Manager -OR- Root Explorer, open whichever one you downloaded and enable r/w access and then proceed to /system/apps/ and delete the apps you mentioned or just move them onto the sd card.
