Root Successful root but still need help

I rooted my 2.2 Inc with Unrevoked3 but I have a question. I read somewhere in here about a tweak to get better battery life but I am unsure how it's done. Is it done using a custom rom or kernel? i am only rooted right now with no custom rom or kernel. Is it worth trying a different radio because my reception is poor?

What radio are you using right now? I would always recommend the latest version.

Have you already tried a hard reset?

And finally, yes, most custom kernels do produce much better battery life.

every tbeas said is right. you can also download setCPU and you can control your CPU to go fast or slow, set a max and min.

I would stick with the stock radio (which is what you have now from what I can tell). Based on everything I've read, it's nearly impossible to brick your phone but MUCH more likely when doing a radio update. Not sure why.

I just put on hydrakernel undervolted last night my battery has seemed to be better today. I'm going to give it a week and see how it goes throughout the week for me.

Actually I successfully updated to the newest available radio and my reception is better.

Can you please post link to the guide you used?

I have signal issues in my home, would love to try the newest radio if there is any hope of better signal

Couple things...Custom kernels like Hydra or King (I like King) can provide better battery life and also SetCPU from the market lets you set profiles based on criteria (charging, % charge remaining, etc.)

Radio-wise, if you received the OTA 2.2 from Verizon then you already have the 2.15 radio so there's nothing to update. If you're freshly rooted from a 2.1 image then you'll want to update to get the most benefit from the Froyo ROMS.
