Root successfully rooted 2.2.1 following Trident/Death2ALL method

If you installed Froyo using Trident/D2A's method, then no, a factory reset is not needed. Their method basically wipes the phone clean as a baby's bottom so no remnants of previous ROMs, data, cache, etc. are on the phone anymore. The only people who may benefit from a factory reset are those that got Froyo via the OTA.

After using D2A/Trident's method, you should always do a hard reset VIA Vol Down + Menu + End... if you do not you will end up with boot loops.. No it does not delete root because root is placed in the system files... NOT the user files(ones that get deleted(

Sorry Joe but that's not always the case. Some folks have had performance issues and fcs until they did the factory reset after using the guide also. There are several who posted about that

I didn't do any resets and my phone is working 100% perfect. So, maybe you should change that to "Sometimes you might have to do a reset".
