Sudden loss of email

Email has always worked perfect , up until last week when my phone deleted all my mail, and now it always says I have no mail and no amount of reboots and resetting of email brings it back.
Any ideas,I really don't want to restore to factory settings

In email Settings - Server ... - Download options - did you set All days?

Thanks Harry , sorted, don't know how that changed by itself.

Sometimes I have to "refresh" the POP and SMTP data at one of my emails accounts. Then the email account's server download options are changed back to default.
