Help Sudden power off, Not booting.

Am I having bad luck with phones or what? Recently, I fried the RIL on my Esteem and so I made the switch to the Spirit. Well worth the money. This phone had me hooked since the first boot. I AM rooted. I've had it for about 3 days now, and I haven't had any issues. Until today :(
The phone was acting fine. I wasn't using it, but when I went to turn on the screen... nothing. Freaked out a little. Took battery out, waited 10 seconds, put it back on, held power button. Nothing. Freaking out more. Took battery out, put it on the charger and the capacitive buttons flashed once and went out. A bit of relief seeing them come on, but still, there is no boot. Right now I'm letting my baby charge, but I would really love some help/tips/insight on this.

definitely sounds like a power issue. have you tried plugging the phone in directly? seeing if it would boot that way. I dont mean hooking it to a dock charger. but to the wall plug that comes with it.

Yup, I took the battery out and plugged it in straight to the wall unit, and that's when the 3 buttons flash. After that, nothing. It's got me pretty bummed.

nothing came up on the screen? if not might have burned out. you might have to take it to a metro corporate store.

I was just flipping through the handbook manual thing and it says something about belt holsters. I use the shield/holster combo, and it seems to have started acting up after I put it on the holster. It's too late for a store visit now, I guess I'll have to wait for tomorrow. I'll leave it on the charger for now :(

Have you tried going into download mode?

If not... Plug usb cable to PC then hold volume up & down then plug in usb cable to phone while continuing to hold up & down till you get download mode screen.

If you get the screen that says download mode, then you know it's not a hardware issue and you can just use the unbrick guide to restore the phone to factory.

If you don't get the download mode screen then it's most likely a hardware issue and you'll need to take the phone to a metro store.

i have the case/holster combo for mine and haven't had any issues.I don't see what that would do. try what GT said.

I've been holding the + - keys for a while now, and still nothing :( it's hardware. Will they give me crap for rooting?

don't tell them you rooted it. They wouldn't even be able to tell this phone was rooted unless you tell them that.

LO AND BEHOLD, GENTLEMEN. The phone was just trolling me. It "magically" fixed itself and decided to ring its loudest as I was sound asleep. I don't know what I did to make it go off, but here's the step-by-step for anyone else with this oddity:

1. Panic
2. Remove battery
3. Plug phone into charger for an hour.
4. Try to turn it on.
5. Nothing? Panic.
6. Put battery back in while still charging.
7. Nothing still? Take out battery. Leave it alone for 2 hours.
8. Put battery back in.
9. Go to sleep.
10. ???????
11. Some magic happens.
12. Wake up to the sound of notifications flooding in.
13. Cry in relief.
