Super Bowl LVII

ocnbrze

DON'T PANIC!!!!!!!!!
so the big game is tomorrow in Arizona with Kansas City Chiefs going against the Philadelphia Eagles.

who do you think is going to win? who are you going to be rooting for?

anybody going to the game? ticket prices are crazy insane expensive!

anybody having a SB party? anybody going to be doing some cooking?

i'll start:

almost every year i go to Santa Barbara and watch the game there with a bunch of my UCSB friends. the past few years because of the pandemic i have not done this.....this year will be my first time since.

gonna be grilling up some miso-lime ribs and some raspberry chipotle cornish game hens.

i am gonna be rooting for the Chiefs. it should be a fun a close game.

No party this year but I'll definitely be watching the big game. I am smoking out flank steaks and baking some potatoes. Dinner is secondary to the snacks on Superbowl Sunday. I'm making a hot cheese queso and some guacamole for chip dips and I'm fixing some hot little smokies. I hope it's an entertaining game. I'll be rooting for the Chiefs. I think they will need all the help and positive vibes possible to pull off a W.

Decades ago I followed college football and bet on the games. I was up substantially going into the bowl games so I bet heavily. I lost my butt. I lost money that I didn't have to lose which brought on some serious family drama. I vowed that I would never bet again and I haven't. Not even a friendly dollar bet has been placed since that bowl season. I wasn't planning to win a lot of money on those bets. I figured it was all just fun and games until I made so many bad picks.

The only time I won big at anything was at a dog race in West Virginia. I went with long shots.won a few dollars and lost a few dollars. The beer was better than the dog racing. I picked 3 long shots in a trifecta box and they won due to a few dogs tripping over each other. I go to cash my ticket in and they said, "You have to go to the IRS window" .

The US-based part of my family are having a superbowl party weekend, with visitors round, cooking and all the rest, as they do every year.
However for them it's just a pretext for a social event: they couldn't even tell me who was going to be playing ;).
The big game is a great excuse to party like St Patrick's Day here in the colonies. The percentage of actual football fans per party is similar to the Irish descendants who celebrate that occasion. We need only the smallest excuse to party down. :)

5 years ago I was at a Florida campground for the Super Bowl. The campground had a pot luck for the game in their rec center. Knowing it was the Super Bowl I went to a local grocery store that had a chicken wing and rib tip bar. I bought 2 buckets of chicken wings and a bucket of rib tips.

All these people who spend a lot of time making these pot luck meals got ticked off at me because the only thing people were grabbing off the food table were chicken wings and rib tips - LOL! :)

For me, attending a SB with my team playing, would be the ultimate sports experience. It would out rank personally seeing my college team winning NCAA championship or my ball team winning the series.
I've see all of things happen but on TV. I'm a huge fan of limited disposable assets. :)

you almost have to be rich to attend. the average price for one ticket is $8,837!!!!!! it is supposedly the 2nd highest ever. but i also read today that tickets have fallen since saturday.....of course the game is today so who knows.......lol
