Help super lost

My phone got hit by a car. Yup for real. I had to pull out my Samsung Dinosaur aka Captivate. Its not so captivating anymore. When I last used it.... No problems. Now its slower than grandma walking up hill backwards. And it does this neat little trick of searching google whenever it wants. Say I open up my contacts. It searches google. Make a call? Nope. Searches google. Respond to a text. It searches google. I'm ready to eat this phone. I can't find anything about super slow google loving Captivates. What have I done to my poor phone and how can I fix it ?

Have you tried a factory reset? Or something less invasive like clearing the data & cache from the Google app? Sometimes it's that simple.

Welcome to the forums :) Sorry but Lmao at the OP :D
Gotta agree though, try a factory reset, or its hardware (****ed) :(

And how the hell did it get "hit by a car"?
Sorry for finding this funny but your post made me grin :)

I have tried factory reset a million times. I've tried rooting, none will take. I'm probably doing the rooting wrong cause I'm lazy and want the quick solution. I dont want to have to hook stuff up to the computer. My other phone went flying off the dashboard and out the window. My at&t fusion2 was rooted in 5 seconds using z4root. The captivate seems to be allergic to rooting.

I tried supernoclick. It froze the phone and the computers wouldn't recognize the phone. This is a seller refurbished phone from eBay. No telling what's been done to it. I suspect they didn't do a good job with the operating system. Could it be missing important things that tell the phone how to act ? And I am horrible with electronics. The s4 got painted before it was hit by a car. Surprisingly it still worked.

So I can dump all the garbage from it. It will run faster without all of at&ts useless apps. And maybe the google monster will stop. I put it in airplane mode and it let me download the file. Now I can't find where to put the update.zip.......and the dogs not helping.

Eat the dog and Google how to boot your phone in 'safe mode" that will give you peace from any annoying apps you've downloaded (and let you uninstall them).
You don't need to root and uninstall the "bloatware" (shit apps that came with the phone)
All you do is go to phone Settings, Applications, scroll over to ALL, find the apps you don't want and "clear data", 'uninstall updates", then "disable".
This will do the exact same as rooting and deleting them and save you just as much storage space.
If that doesn't speed things up, come back and say and we'll have more suggestions.
Just DONT bite the phone, we can't fix that (or your teeth) online :thumbsupdroid:

The stupid smart phone had no options to disable any of the att apps. I have rooted several phones. This one is the devil. Can I just send it to you guys? :)

Yup 5 blabla Street, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland :thumbsupdroid:

Seriously though is there a phone forum on this site for your phone with a root section?

My grandfather was from Aberdeen, came here to the US in 1933. :)
Cool my dad's side of the family live very close to Aberdeen (closest city)
Has he kept his accent?
I have serious trouble understanding my family from up there and I'm generally good with accents "ken?" "whit like" "whar ye bide?" :D

EDIT sorry just noticed the date and the "was".
RIP brave Scotsman :thumbsupdroid:

No worries he had a long happy life. 1916-1995 [emoji4] he loved Scotland... Just had a good business opportunity and took it here in the states...and yeah his accent needed a translator after a few pints lol.

I have looked at the forums for my captivate. They all suggest things I've already tried. I think the fact is I got poorly refurbished phone and I'm no expert. And we're all Scottish of some sort lol Great grandma left the highlands for the land of opportunity......to open a bar! That's a Macgregor for ya. But thanks for your time and help. Appreciate it. I'll continue to further my phone education on here.

Sorry TheCuteness that we couldn't help but at least I've met a couple of cousins I never knew I had.
Lol I'm almost embarrassed to say my surname as its far from Scottish I think, don't know where it came from as the rest of my grand parents have mainly irish surnames...... SMITH!
Pals call me Smity.
Pleased to meet ya's ;)
