Help superpad help

I just recieved my Superpad, and am having problems connecting to the net, I havent even tried wi fi yet as it wont connect with my network cable to my broadband modem. It comes up no "net work connection" I know there is as I can take it from my pad to my laptop, right next to it and the laptop connects. Does someone have a solution?

Have you turned the ethernet connection on?
menu/settings/ethernet configuration/ and put a tick in the ethernet box.
