hi i have recently bought the super pad III and have been trying to get the internet to work on it, at first it refused to recognise my ethernet cable when attached, now it finally lets me download from the android market but none of the downloads work. the manual says when i insert the ethernet cable it should come up with a symbol saying "eth" but it does not and i am still unable to do anything with the wifi with or without the wire attached as when i try clicking on wifi or wifi set up nothing happens. Any suggestions or anyone else having the same issues?????

Go to menu/settings/ethernet configuration/ and ensure that there is NO tick in the ethernet box, then look on the top of the tablet and ensure the wifi on/off slide switch is set to ON, go to menu/settings/wireless & networks/ and put a tick in the wi-fi box, it should say 'turning on' .If you select wi-fi settings you should see the available wifi networks in range of your tablet, sometimes the wifi adapters in these tablets are very poor range, so get quite close to your router to see if it is working. Once you see the wifi network you want to connect to select it and type in the encryption key.....

I have the exact same issue. When I turn on my wifi it turns on and then after a minute or so it says "unable to scan networks" and then automatically turns itself off. I've tried with both open and private netoworks, on multiple routers, and even sitting right on top of the router. I saw on another forum something about rooting it and deleting some file. I rooted it and looked for that file but it wasn't there. Is there anyway I can at least tell whether its hardware or software.

Those are exactly the symptoms you will get if the physical wifi on/off switch is in the off position, so check that first. If that is on then it sounds like your wifi module isn't working so your options are either send it back as faulty or invalidate your warranty and open it up and investigate. I guess the deletion of the file you mention will just delete the retained connection information, allowing you to set the encryption up again with different info, but the symptoms of that are different, it will find wifi signals and attempt to connect, only to fail, the wifi won't turn itself off.

If you cannot see anything amiss with the wiring of the wifi module you could try an external usb wifi dongle, but you need to know which chipset your wifi module is using, you can find that out either by running lsusb in an terminal emulator or opening up the tablet and looking on the wifi module, you could then buy an external wifi dongle that utilises the same chipset and plug it in one of the usb ports.

With my wifi switch off if I click wi-fi (turn on Wi-Fi) it doesn't do anything. When I turn on the switch it shows Wi-Fi as turning on but then does the "unable to scan for networks" and then turns back off. So I guess the physical switch is working but that's really all I know.

When you say wifi module are you talking about hardware or software?

I do have an external wifi dongle I could try. The unit is rooted and i have a terminal but I can't get many linux commands to work. Do I need to add a bin path to the path to get them to work. su works fine and I'm using "Better Terminal Emulator Pro" but lsusb and most other commands say command not found.

My tablet behaves differently. With the switch off - select turn on wifi, the text changes to turning on wifi, after a few seconds the green tick appears and "scanning" is shown, after 10 seconds "unable to scan for networks" is shown for a few seconds, followed by "turning off" and then the green tick vanishes. With the switch set to on, it follows the same sequence until, after "scanning" it finds several networks and displays them. If I have previously connected to one of them it automatically connects to that network.

The wifi module inside the FT3 is actually the innards from an usb wifi dongle that has had its usb socket removed and the module has been hard wired to the system PCB.

lsusb is found in busybox 1.19. If you have titanium pro backup utility then you will have busybox installed already, it is usually installed in /system/bin/ or possibly /system/xbin/ The older versions of busybox (1.16) didn't have lsusb.

BE ADVISED.... I tried 3 times to update busybox from 1.16 to 1.19 on my tablet running Tims 4d, and each time it screwed up root access such that reflashing was required to rectify the problem. If you have Tims 6a then I think you will have busybox 1.19 and therefore lsusb.
If you cd to /system/bin (or possibly /system/xbin ) and type busybox you should see the version number of busybox you have, and the available commands contained within.

I have just discovered...in /system/bin I have a lsmod command that displays rt2070sta on the first line, which is the wifi module that has been loaded. not quite the same as the chipset reported in lsusb

please can any one help me? I am trying to set up my so called superpad 3 with a 3g dongle, but as soon as i put the dongle in to the pad it asks for a pin code, so i tried the code that belongs to the dongle but no luck has this happened to any one else

Hi all, just bought a "Superpad III 4g says it's Android 2.3 on home screen.
I've managed to root it with "Gingerbreak" found on xda-developers site.
I did this before adding "Launcher pro" and enabling USB debugging and it worked,
Scary moments though (took a long long time to boot after rooting) I suggest looking at Compubytes post regarding enabling USB debugging! I wish I had but all's OK have superuser installed along terminal emulator. Still on a steep learning curve and not ready to ROM yet still working on getting a Huawie e200 working;-)

I'm confused.... this is my first tablet. When we ordered it was for a Flytouch 3. What I got came in a white box labeled Superpad 3. Here is my tabs info...

Android version- v2.3 2012-01-05(001112)
Kernel version- 2.6.32.9 root@wanghua-desktop #504

And we wonder why people in the main say "don't buy tablets & phones from China", it's not as if the tablet makers actually care what is inside the product - more about what it is named and see how many of the general public can be duped into buying a nice looking box with a fancy name. As for customer support, sorry - they don't do customer support, it's not even on their radar.

It really is very, very important now that the buying public really do their homework before parting with the their hard earned money.

I'd still rather run into difficulties with a Chinese tablet and phone, than buy anything made by Apple, Nokia, Sony, Samsung, etc. Once liberated, I will never go back to being a slave

After reading all of the this thread I have a couple of quick questions.

I have a SuperPad III

Model - Android Tab10
Ver - V2.3 2011-12-31 (001112)
Ker - V2.6.32.9 root@wanghua dekstop #504
Build FRF85B

Question 1:

To Tim or Not to Tim. Most people have gotten very positive results with the TIM roms. But I do not think they work for the Tab10s

Question 2:

If I TIM, just put the two files on the root of an MicroSD card and turn on the tablet?

Question 3:

GPS software I have found nothing that works (right now I am very happy with the tablet, it has met or exceeded expections for everything else I wanted). I read CoPilot8 works, again will this work with the Tab10?

Thanks for your time.

Hi Guys,

I am new to the forums so please bare with me.
Got a superpad 3 cheap of a local guy and now I know why.
Wireless was working but no android store and it kept crashing so I did some research and flashed it with a rom I found and now the wireless does not work. No Mac address so from what I have read this firmware does not have the correct "drivers" as such. Can not install the Tim3a or 6a roms as someone has had at this before me and now it will only update with roms that contain a file called zsys.img and I have tried all the ones I can find. Can anyone please tell me how step by step to use a usb cable to wipe the dam thing so I will be able to use tim's roms and if this is not possible a work around.

Someone posted a link from one of the sellers of these superpad 3 and I have looked through every file on there with no luck.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Kernal Version:
2.6.32.9
root@wanghua-desktop #206

Build Number:
FRF85B

These are the only details that do not change when I have tried custom roms.

Thanks
Paul

Me neither!! Disco or Disco10 models only for Tims firmwares

Yes... but it won't work with your model

yes...depending on which version of CoPilot you get..although I believe that the free maps are no-longer available...
igo8.4 works, and google maps of course!

It sounds like you have flashed a bootloader that is not for your model of tablet and have now changed the way the tablet updates. The first time you flashed the tablet how did you do it? With a USB cable or with files on the external tf card?

Yes. I

I just one of the knockoff last week. I thought about sending it back, but it is a good cheap one for experimenting. It came with a little manual, apparently for some othe tablet. The touch screen is close to unusable with a finger. Plugging in a mouse made it a joy to use! Buy a cheap mouse, they will like each other. A stylus works okay too - I made a good one by flushing out a highlighter.

I have a few weeks of self-directed study. I've been designing and building embedded computers for a living; this is my first foray into android. I appreciate the comments.
