Help Superuser icon unremovable

I somewhat rooted way back when the first one-step Root came out. It installed the SU. I really didn't do anything with the root and unrooted like the next day. I cannot remove the SU still. I cannot even remember the name of that first root. I want to do the newest root and coannot because of this old SU. please help

Welcome to the forums!
If you mean just the command "su", it's placed in "/system/bin"
If you refer to "Superuser" application, this should be "Superuser.apk" in "/system/app"
Anyway, it's hard to remove it from phone (and I don't recommend it) without root permissions, but you can try to do it from computer with Adnroid SDK, maybe it will work (if you have older SDK version, skip to commands, adb is placed in "tools" folder in older versions, in "platform-tools" in the new SDK version):
- download the SDK from Android SDK | Android Developers
- uppack it, run setup and download the tools
- now tun these commands from right tools folder (see upper) from commandline (without quoted comments):

adb remount /*remount phone*/
adb shell /*run shell from phone*/
su /*logon as superuser, probably you still have root access and this will work*/
rm /system/app/Superuser.apk /*delete Superuser application*/
rm /system/bin/su /*delete su command, but if you just want to delete the icon from Launcher, it's maybe better to skip this*/
exit /*exit from superuser mode*/
exit /*exit from shell*/

Thank you for your reply. I am wondering if I should just do a reset and start over. Would this also clear the superuser.apk from the phone? Also would it be a good idea to take out the sd card before reset, or does it matter?

I don't know the way, you've rooted the phone, after some googling I've found 2 ways to one-click root Droid in the net:
How to: Root DROID X Running Official Android 2.2 - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog
How To Root Your Droid X In Under A Minute: Droid X Easy Root Method Is Here | DroidedUp
If it was done by the first way, it will be possible to adjust the script to unroot (basically execute the same commands like in my last post + mount /system as read-write before and read-only afterwards). The rooting program in second post also contains unrooting procedure.

Your post was just the info I needed! The second option is what I had used originally and by rerunning the new root I am able to use the SU again. This is what I was trying to get to. Thanks Again:D
PS Your the best!!!
