Root Support for 64gb MicroSD?

Does this phone natively support 64gb microSD cards? or is there a hack for it?

I have Harmonia, S-Off, did the "Turn your phone into an EVO 3D" updates.
I don't want to drop the money on a card I can't use...

It will work just fine. The Only Reason it says up to 32gb is because at the time the phone was made 2 years ago. The largest size you could buy is 32gb. I have a 64 gb and it works flawlessly

i remember back in the day when a 8 gb card costed the same as a 64gb today :D.

On Virgin Mobiles website they have the Samsung Galaxy Reverb listed for 64GB so I'm guessing all phones after that will say that they support 64GB.

That's nothing! Back when I bought my first SD card for a PDA (Microsoft PocketPC OS) I paid ~$60 for a 64 MB card. Also bought a USB thumb drive when they first hit the market about 10 years ago... $40 for 32 MB! :D

Yeah well my first desktop had 64 kb, first laptop had a 500 meg hard drive and I can still remember being the only kid on the block with a 1200 baud modem and no one to dialup at those blindingly fast speeds. God I'm old.
But getting back to the op, you just have to reformat the card, SDXC cards come formatted as exfat, the phone needs fat32.

I've got a 64G chip. I formatted it using a FreeBSD box for FAT32 (it came pre-formatted NTFS).

It works flawlessly in the following handsets:

  • HTC EVO V 4G
  • Motorola Triumph
  • LG Optimus Slider
  • LG Optimus V
  • (My Brother's) LG Optimus S
I imagine *ANY* handset that supports the micro SDHC chip would work fine with it...

Then it must have been reformatted before you received it because the SDXC specifications only allow for the exfat file system. Thank Microshaft for that little piece of nonsense. And it's definitely not true that any device supporting 32 GB SDHC is guaranteed to work with the new cards. There are numerous posts on various forums citing incompatibility issues.

I wonder if a 128 micro sd would also be supported, I still decide to love my evo 3d for a whole nother year, and there just so happens to be 128cards available by then, would they work? 64 is sdxc so if the evo is already supporting that i'm sure 128, or even more could technically work right? If there's ever a 256 card I'll buy it. Shit look at all the stuff we had 10 years ago, 3 tb hdd's would have seemed crazy 12 years ago.

I have the SanDisk Mobile Ultra 64GB microSDXC Class 10 Memory Card form BestBuy, formatted it to fat32, but phone doe not see it. Any help would be appreciated!

Can you try reformatting on the phone from settings? That's always worked best for me.

Either what Early said, or if you use Linux...I use Gparted and a card reader. Fat32 format.

(Or for you more hardcore types, cfdisk)

Does the phone recognize the card at all?

sorry to be so long getting back to you all

formatted the SanDisk Mobile Ultra 64GB microSDXC Class 10 Memory Card form BestBuy to FAT32 as suggested, phone does not recognize an SD card at all. I have tried as exFAT & NTFS. Card just is not seen. Just bought the phone in January from Virgin Mobile. Excellent phone and Virgin Mobile data 4g data plan for $35.00 a month is awesome. Just can't get this SD card to work!!!

I format my cards in my digital camera. Works good so far.

I formatted using this. Worked for me, just make a note of the OP's instructions. They're important; down to the card reader.

It can't be exFat or ntfs, the phone will only recognize fat32. Unfortunately since XP windows doesn't natively support fat32 on anything larger than 32Gb so you'll need a 3rd party app to format the card.
