Root [Support] Lost my SuperSU binary, how to replace?

Howdy all... I managed to screw up my Motion for the first time since owning it. I did the software update (flashed to MS77010d) but instead of accepting the OTA update I used the LG Mobile Support Tool. When it was finished, I had lost my SU binary used with the SuperSU app. Root Explorer can still see /system/app and other root directories but of course without the SU binary I can't get a root prompt in terminal or anything. I tried removing SuperSU and installing Superuser instead, still no good. Removed Superuser and did a reflash using the UnBrick/UnRoot guide, then rooted the phone again using the procedure found on this forum... still no good. Phone behaves exactly the same as before. When opening SuperSU it says "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it."

Hmm... I don't know what the SU binary consists of but could I get a copy of it and put it in the correct place to get it working?

Oh, and yeah shame on me because I forgot to check whether there was CWM available for this phone before I did it. Last time I checked we couldn't do nandroid backups, but I see now we have 2nd-init available.

Can't even flash a stock ROM because SU is busted.

Any help is appreciated.

EDIT: well a bunch of stuff is screwed up now... camera app won't show the view thru the camera, games have no video, lock screen has major lag, etc. I think once I get root back I'll reflash the stock ROM. I think I've seen it floating around here...

i have done that before. the easiest way is the root way with the otr file from the how to root. when you run the root script does it show only 4 or 5 lines in cmd? or does it pop up with about 15 lines when u run it?

make sure debugging is checked. open the test backup app and ensure you see the hello world.
then reboot.
connect to computer and wait for phone to boot and the sd card has been read 100%
then run the root script.
you should only see 4 or 5 lines of script before the phone reboots
you should now have functioning root.

What he said ^^^

Awesome, that worked. Wonder why it didn't work before???

Perhaps it's my fault... my file compression utility (7-Zip) creates a directory with 1 subdirectory when it decompresses a file. So if I unzip o4xr.zip to C: it unzips to C:\o4xr\o4xr\. I left it there and ran the root command the first time, and it failed (gave me about 12 lines of errors)... this time I put it in C:\04xr and it worked.

Well, I have root now, phone has zero lag again, and firmware is updated. That's what I get for multitasking... got 1 laptop here running the phone updates, programming Modbus on an industrial water treatment machine on the other laptop next to it lol...

Now to install recovery!

Thanks!!

it wasnt the compression issue with the 7 zip. i believe you either didnt open the test backup and reboot or you didnt let the phone boot fully and let the sd card read all the way. i unbrick and reroot up to 7 times a day and have done that mistake several times. we are human after all :-) ....be sure to press the thanks button!!

edit...be sure to check out my 2nd init mod to reboot with a simple widget to get into cwm. :-)

Yup, I may have been inattentive and not let the card scanner finish first. I know for sure I opened the testbackup though. And I did install the 2nd init mod for rebooting into CWM Recovery, thank you for that.
