Help Support unexpected new search icon

Hi and happy christmas
I download an app last night and this morning noticed a new search icon on my screen that takes me to what looks like a Google homepage. Cant find this new search app on my phone but have uninstall the application I originally d/l and run agv which says I'm clear but really need to make sure, any suggestion please.

A little more information... like the name of the app you downloaded and deleted, might help.

It could be quite innocent as the new Market, 3.4.4, installs widgets automatically on to your home screens, if you have that feature selected in Market settings.

All the more reason to read, fully, all the details and permissions for each app.
