The only way I know to avoid that is to be on wifi, otherwise its just like a dial up computer, somebody calls and your disconnected

You would bed a GSM phone for that which only AT&T and T mobile have. Best advice is to go into contacts and set whoever you think is going to call straight to vmail. Also you could try root call blocker app.

there is a way if your in a EV-DO zone that you can set your phone to forward calls to voicemail if there is an active EV-DO connection, at least i think as there is such in the service menu of my E3D (my optimus M is basically a fancy mp3 player with crappy flash support now) lol BUTTT he would not need a GSM phone

i will admit that simultaneous voice and data is a barrier CDMA currently hasn't broken, (that i know of other than Verizon's plans) see for CDMA voice is handled by data (EVRC vcoder) where as on gsm they are still handling voice over analog (13k vcoder) [Correct me if im wrong] thus the calls on CDMA are handled by their 1X-RTT network (some will say 3G but i honestly can't say that much) the only way for metro to be able to handle both at the same time is for them to take verizon's approach and update to 1X advanced (SVDO) which if any phones on metro (not gonna say anything on that) support that protocol would be able to handle 1X voice along side EV-DO assuming that metro sticks with this surprise "temp" 3G rollout. but it would all also depend on if metro's network could even handle the load. :)

btw sorry for the run on i have goin on there xD!! got carried away X)!
