SURVEY: Battery Life?

My CDMA/LTE device varies way too much, so it really depends in which context-- I can go a full 24+ hours with minimal use on wifi, or burn through the battery within 3-4 hours with heavy use and poor signal (on the extended battery).

On average, I'd say about 10-12 hours, with about 3 hours of screen time (give or take). I expect the display to draw huge amounts of battery, but the real culprit after that is reception (with wifi making a noticeable difference).

average daily use i get about 16hrs on the stock battery before it falls below 20%. that is on LTE in good coverage areas. includes about 1hr of web surfing, 2-3hrs of phone calls, 20 text messages and about 50 emails between gmail, google business gmail and pop account. I don't have twitter or facebook btw. oh should mention 100% stock.

I get 9-10 hours before it completely shuts off w/extended battery on average usage. I wish I got 16 hrs!

~10 hours of everyday use on the 2100 battery on the Verizon version leaves me with about 20-30% left before I plug it in when I get home.

Well, its tough to say since I usually plug mine in every night before I need a charge. I would say I go about 15-16hrs and plug back in at about 30%. Without plugging in I can usually get 20-27hrs. I did get 48hours once... but that was with only 1:45 screen on time and almost no voice calling over the 2 days.

Droids 'n Things: My new best day(s) ever.

Obviously it varies a lot based on usage.
I am usually on Wifi 85+% of my day so that's huge. The rest is mostly 4G.
I usually have about 1:30-2:00 of screen on time.
< 20 min of talk time.
Almost no GPS.
Rarely do I stream anything.
Only sync the essentials - gtalk, gmail, contacts, calendars, browser. Biz email checks every 30 min.

My LTE Nexus gets about 12 on stock battery but if I turn off LTE I can go 18. Add about four hours each for the extended.

If I lock the device before bed, I can wake up after 10 hours and it will have only gone from 100% down to maybe 95%. With the screen on and me doing things, I have gone down to maybe 30% after a 5 hour day. I am running 4.0.2, and I am told 4.0.4 has much improved battery life, so I will update this when I get that.

Are any if you guys running new roms?

Android Revolution HD is looking pretty light on the battery atm

Should easily be able to get 24 hours of light use and that's without anything like juice defender.

OP this is a very Vague and Subjective topic....lol but since you asked

i average between 10-13 hours on a normal day based on MY usage.

My average is also around 10-14 hours of normal use (2-3 hours of screen time) and 16-18 hours with little use (like 1-2 hours screen time) and on WiFi. I have made my phone last over 24 hours on mostly WiFi and with little usage, say 1 hour of actual screen time and no voice calls. Oh yeah, I'm using the extended battery and normally roll in 4G all the time.

A normal day for me is a mix 3G at work (but phone set to LTE/CDMA) in a crappy signal area (-100 to -120 dBm) and WiFi at home. For 2 hours of screen time, my phone will last from wake up to go to sleep but any screen time longer than that and I'm in need of a top off.

Not in love with the battery life, and it seems like I could do better with the Rezound I had previously, but I carry a spare battery and don't even worry about it.

I'm on my second GNex, this one I manually put to 4.0.4 and I must say I'm, thankfully, blown away by the battery life. Seems to be on par if not better than my iPhone 4s

I'm on 4.0.3 and only get about 10 hours, pretty annoying. This is with the stock battery. Looking forward to when 4.0.4 gets rolled out.

OK, someone please tell me if this is normal. The battery dropped like a rock, in my house while on Wi-Fi and using auto-brightness.

Is it possible that my phone is not accessing the Wi-Fi, even though Wi-Fi is connected and the phone seems to display that I am using my Wi-Fi? How can I see if this is a fact?

I turned on my phone this morning (after it was fully charged last night before I went to bed), and within only a couple of minutes of using it, it dropped to 96%. Then, in 14 minutes, it was already down to 90%. Seriously? Is that normal? All I did was open the stock browser (I ditched the Dolphin Browser yesterday), and I opened Facebook. Those two things shouldn’t drain my phone.

Then, I viewed a video in the stock browser for maybe 5 minutes, and I continued to surf the internet. After only 44 minutes and the battery dropped to 82% - how can that be? Isn’t that crazy? Here’s what it looked like:

But then, I didn’t touch the phone for 2 hours. In that time, it only dropped about 4% to 78%. So, when the phone is idle, I am fine, but when the screen is on (auto-brightness, and on Wi-Fi in my house), it drops like a rock.

I am using the stock phone, not rooted. I am on Android 4.0.2 (Verizon). When are we getting the 4.0.4? Allegedly, the battery life is way better, correct?

Not in 4G. I turned that off.

However, my Wi-Fi (which should still be connected), is not. And, my data connection sucks.

How come Wi-Fi just turned off and why won't it connect?

Do you have the correct settings with your router, password and everything. And whats the signal like, how far away from the router are you?

I'm far from it, and it's not mine - it's where I work. This is totally draining/killing my battery.

That could be the reason, your wifi is working really hard to get a signal. And wifi is a bigger drainer than mobile internet in the long run

But, my cell phone signal is worse.

Now, I am in the same room as my Wi-Fi, my Wi-Fi is blue (3 bars) and my battery is down from a full charge to 87%.

That is crazy. Right? I am only surfing the web.

This never happened to me before. Should I manually dial *22899?

Here is what is really odd... My Wi-Fi is connected at first, but the Wi-Fi doesn't show as blue. I can turn off my screen and turn it right back on and it turns blue. What is that? Why is that?

That could be the reason, your wifi is working really hard to get a signal. And wifi is a bigger drainer than mobile internet in the long run

That's not really true. WiFi uses much less battery power than mobile internet, even 3G. Standby battery drain rate of my nexus on WiFi is about 2%/hr, but it's about 3%/hr on 3G and 8~10%/hr on 4G.

As for Dankees's battery issue, his battery screen shots indicate screen on for all time and using facebook. So that battery drain rate is not so surprising. Try reducing brightness to 30% or lower, no live wallpaper, dark color tone, timeout at 30sec. I'd also remove facebook, google+ apps and use browser for it, or increase/disable sync interval on it.
