Help Surviving NYC

I have been in New York City a few times since getting the TB on launch day. I have also been in Chicago with the phone. The home that I stayed in in NYC is a strip home, two stories common side walls. Inside the house I asaw 1X, 3G, and 4G and no data regularly. I also topped the battery up fully before I left Brooklyn to go to Manhattan and in Manhattan, plus 30min underground on the subway, I am down to 50% battery with the phone only on standby. Anyone have any suggestions for this phone in a city? Chicago was no where near as bad on the battery.

I also had the phone on CDMA mostly to try and save some battery that way. Is keeping LTE on better in a LTE market?

keeping LTE off is going to be easier no matter where you are. i am guessing being underground, and having bad reception indoors is your problem. and there isn't much you can do about it.
i can go all day long on 3G but that is will pretty good reception, thats why i think it is teh acutal cell reception.
best bet is to turn off data completely when you are indoors or underground. outside you should be fine.

or buy the extended battery. Yes, it's big but I stopped noticing it pretty quickly and the 2750 Mah sets me up for an entire day + with not worries. Haven't tried NYC, but I bet this bad boy would last the day.

Last time I was in NY I did fine, however I switch my data off when not needed and airplane mode it underground

I work in NYC and travel to and from via Grand Central. Airplane mode will do wonders and is a must when underground. An extended battery will take away all the worries and I'm not quite sure how anyone who has this phone does not have one, unless they live w/ a charger. The extended battery makes that big of a difference for anyone who has any hesitation about spending the $$.

being that this is the first 4g phone i think they made it to where they kinda force you to leave 4g on cause i get better service data and battery life by leaving it on 4g. i live in staten island. then again the 3g coverage here sucks so another reason better off on 4g lol

Get the Rezound battery - it's seriously a game changer for the TB... no need to get that tumor called an extended battery. I got mine 2 weeks ago and I've had no worries with battery life getting me through the day and then some. I used to stay on 3G all the time and be lucky to make it home with more than 15% battery left... forget LTE... it wouldn't last past lunch time.

But now with the Rezound battery I ALWAYS keep it on LTE and I get home with 40% or more battery remaining... I can even keep my phone uplugged until the next day before I need to charge it. I'm in the subway for about an 45 minutes everyday, and don't see the kind of battery drain I used to while underground.

I don't know if the original stock battery just lost its ability to hold a charge after a while, or if the new Rezound battery will eventually do that as well... but it's a much welcomed improvement.
