i beleive my neighbor has access to my text messages. i've baited her a couple times and shortly thereafter she texts me out of the blue with subjects in which i had sent to a friend that has had no idea who she is. she has never had access to my phone. i have wi-fi set up at my house and i know she catches the signal. is this just some creepy coincidence? or has she somehow tapped into my inspire with her droidX or her home computer? i confronted her about it and of course she denied it and then when on to say and i quote " if i had access to your phone i would know everything you do, and it would be a hell of a lot worse than what you are accussing me of". i responded with "well you have a pretty good idea already and its just hard for me to beleive it 's just a coincidence". any ideas for me??? she was creepy before this started happening, an now....i want to ditch the cell phone and try to find a pager, if they still make them haha.

Maybe you could install Wireshark and monitor your network activity for signs of an intruder?

Why, Why, Why would you be running an open, unsecured, wi-fi network at home?
if i didnt like you, i'd post a picture. not to mention the other innocent folks that would stumble across the hideous .................young lady (i cleaned that up quite nicely i think, ha).
as far as the why why why question, my girl friends kid set it all up and when i ask why it always seems to be about her I Tunes or I Pad
so it is possible for her to do what i was describing? this morning i unplugged the wi-fi unit completely. but now i dont have internet on my phone, its just a phone now.

Nothing will make it impossible to access your wireless network, but you can sure make it a pain in the ass for them.
You can hide your SSID (but this does very little as it is easy to find).
Set up WPA2 security.
Set up a MAC address filter (MACs can be spoofed though).
Depends on how much time and how smart she is.

You should have internet via your data plan when you aren't connected to wifi. If you can't use the internet away from wifi something isn't right with your phone/data plan.

Am I mistaken that believing that even on wifi your text messages would not be transmitting it's data over wifi but over the voice network or the cell providers data network? I know even when I'm at home on wifi if I send a text message with a picture the "H" will pop up by the wifi symbol and I'll see data transmitting on the cell network.

I'm not sure, I have mobile network off and just have the wifi symbol with the h and check mark and when i send sms or mms I don't get the h with arrows transmitting. But with mobile network checked and sending a pic it will switch to the h with arrows under it

yea, text would go over the phone network, not your wifi.
Has she ever had your phone in her possession?
But they are sent over the cell network regardless of if you're on wifi so my point was that should eliminate all the previous guessing of if the neighbor could snoop on the text messages over his wifi.
